DOVER, NJ – A processor of reclaimed industrial copper was having great difficulty finding a reliable, low cost method of transporting copper pellets into a furnace.
Rotary valve wear and motor overload
Inquiries to other vendors about how best to transport these high density, solid copper particles drew uncertain reactions. A rotary valve fed, pneumatic conveying system had been tried without success. Severe wear and motor overload problems had proved the rotary valves to be inappropriate.
A complete conveying system was designed and supplied by Fox Valve, using a Fox 4” eductor and a Rotron DR 12 regenerative blower. Although required flow rates were moderate, the customer’s key requirements were the capacity to upgrade and the reassurance of high reliability. The customer has been so pleased with the performance of this original installation that he has purchased two additional systems; one conveying plastic flakes, the other transporting steel shreds, at different plants.
