In addition, powders are not good conductors of electricity. Electrostatic charges will accumulate on them, the processing equipment, isolated metal components, and other related surfaces. This is a very common problem within the industry, but our AMS team had discovered several solutions to this difficult problem through years of experience.
The most common solution that we implement is grounding, where we attach a wire to the collector funnel and ground the other end to the inside of the control cabinet. Although grounding of conductive items does not necessarily eliminate all potential static charge, it goes a long way towards achieving this goal.
Grounding of personnel is also a consideration when trying to eliminate static within the filling process. This is most commonly accomplished through the combination of antistatic footwear and antistatic or conductive flooring for operating areas.
An air ionizer or charge neutralization tool is another method for eliminating accumulated static. Air ionizers are devices that work by flooding the atmosphere with positive and negative ions. The ions are then attracted to the opposite charge on the related surface of the machine and neutralize the static build up.
Our filling specialists have great understanding of the nature of electrostatic charge generation and retention. We go above and beyond in customer service by finding the best solution, so your company can perform at the highest production levels.
