With the addition of the TT20 to our controller line-up, Tecweigh delivers precision, flexibility, and control for continuous feeding and batching applications. The TT20 is a valuable upgrade for industries ranging from food and plastics to a wide variety of chemical applications. The gravimetric feeder product line is built for reliability and includes three models, each tailored to different throughput levels and application needs.
For example, the Model GF5 Feeder is suitable for small-scale, weighing applications and is often used for dispensing seasonings, spices, and salt. Additionally, the Model GF12 caters to higher throughput requirements and is often paired with a variety of styles and sizes of augers to be ideally suited for most mid-range feeding needs.
At the top of the range, the Model GF28 handles throughputs up to 800 cubic feet per hour, making it ideal for high-capacity bulk material feeding applications.
The core benefit of the TT20 gravimetric controller is its ability to improve accuracy & performance when utilized with the Tecweigh Integrated Scale Bases. This precise control opens a host of new possibilities for applications that demand high levels of precision. The TT20 offers four modes of operation: Loss-in-Weight, Loss-of-Weight, Gain-in-Weight, and Controlled-Rate Batching, providing users with flexibility to tailor the system to their specific needs. In addition, when used in Manual mode, the system operates as a volumetric feeder, yet enables all of the weight, rate, totalization, and fieldbus functions.
The most common mode, Loss-in-Weight, allows the gravimetric feeder with Integrated Scale Base, to dispense material while controlling and adjusting the auger speed to reach a desired feed rate setpoint. The TT20 controller continually monitors the weight of the material being dispensed, ensuring consistent flow and rate. When in Loss-in-weight mode, the PID loop also monitors process disturbances and refilling functions.
When the hopper begins to empty, the TT20 signals that a refill is required and compensates for material changes during the refill cycle. Thus, allowing the system to be in a controlled volumetric mode throughout the refill cycle. This dynamic refilling feature ensures that feed rates remain constant and accurate throughout the refilling process.
When batching is required, the TT20 offers two solutions: Gain-in-Weight and Loss-of-Weight.[KH1] When in Gain-in-Weight mode, the bin, tote, or bag receiving the material sits on an independent scale base. The system fills the container until it reaches a pre-set weight. Loss-of-Weight accurately dispenses material from the feeder, which has an integrated scale base. These modes are useful for applications where precise ingredient quantities or batch repeatability are critical. Which mode, Loss-of-Weight or Gain-in-Weight, to use in your application is process dependent.
The controller’s user-friendly HMI offers easy-to-understand screens, making diagnostics and tuning functions easier for operators to troubleshoot and tune the performance of the system. Multi-level security levels are standard, preventing unwanted changes to critical operating parameters.
The TT20 controller offers PLC communication protocols, allowing it to seamlessly integrate with a plant’s central control system. This makes it easier for operators to monitor and control the feeder system remotely, as well as to collect data for analysis and reporting.
With the launch of the TT20 gravimetric controller, Tecweigh expanded the capabilities of its gravimetric screw feeders. With its enhanced accuracy, flexibility, and capability to handle material flow challenges, the system is well-suited for industries ranging from food processing and plastics to chemicals, minerals, and beyond.
The TT20 not only helps improve operational efficiency, but also a key step forward in meeting the increasing demand for precision and automation in industrial material handling.
As industries evolve and demands grow more complex, Tecweigh remains dedicated to delivering innovative solutions that help customers stay ahead. With a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and reliability, our systems provide the tools needed to optimize processes and drive long-term success.
