Description and Operation
The valve body, made from high-pressure die-cast aluminium, consists of two robust semi-chambers.
The stainless steel feeding wheel is fitted with nitrile rubber gasket, and a food-grade version is available with FDA/EC 1935/2004 certified components for applications involving food contact.
Thanks to its distinctive design, the VFD valve can handle particles up to 1.5 mm while preventing bridging, even under pressure.

Its operating principle is both simple and effective. As material enters the feeding chamber, the rotating paddle wheel keeps it in motion, ensuring a continuous and uniform flow to downstream equipment such as hoppers or FIBC discharging systems. The entire process operates at low torque, resulting in greater energy efficiency and reduced power consumption.
Technical and Operational Advantages for Installers
The Paddle Wheel VFD valve is engineered to simplify installation and optimise operational performance. Key benefits include:
- Compact and lightweight design, ideal for space-constrained plants, and easy to dismantle and clean.
- Low torque requirement, reducing resistance and enabling energy savings.
- Modular, replaceable components, minimising downtime and facilitating quick maintenance.
- Compatibility with PN and ANSI flanges, allowing for straightforward integration into existing systems.

In practical terms, these features deliver higher production efficiency, lower operating costs, better material handling quality, and immediate compliance with food-grade standards where required.
Industrial Applications
Thanks to its remarkable versatility, the Paddle Wheel VFD valve is suitable for a wide variety of industries:
- Construction materials – for dry-mix and premix plants, ensuring efficient handling of powders and granulated mixes.
- Agri-food – maintaining a consistent flow of flours, feeds, and powdered additives while preserving material quality.
- Chemical and cosmetics – ideal for delicate powders and blends requiring uninterrupted operation and minimal bridging risk.
- Recycling and environmental treatment – supporting controlled dosing and discharge of various materials.
- Heavy industry – robust enough for glassworks, foundries, and steel plants where durability and reliability are essential.
Available Versions and Installation Options
The Paddle Wheel VFD is offered in two main configurations:
- Standard version for general industrial use
- Food-grade version with stainless steel paddle wheel and FDA/EC 1935/2004 certified seals for food contact
An optional connection is also available for direct mounting on existing lines, further simplifying integration.
