Pneuvay supplies Vortex Global’s specialised components, including slide gates, diverters, and valves. These are used in bulk powder handling systems that typically employ gravity flow or pneumatic conveying (dilute or dense phase) to transfer material. Read on to find out how this important strategic partnership developed and how it benefits the industry across the region.
It all started by becoming the Australian agent
Since 1982, Pneuvay has delivered integrated pneumatic conveying solutions, sourcing slide gates, diverters, and valves to ensure optimal system flow. Prior to first engaging Vortex Global in 2006, Pneuvay had evaluated a range of manufacturers for these components. It quickly became clear that Vortex’s efficient, reliable components, combined with their high-quality performance and excellent service, made them the ideal supplier.
In 2010, Pneuvay chose Vortex as its sole supplier and focused on developing expertise in the application and sourcing of their pneumatic conveying system components. Paul Malcolm, General Manager of Sales and Engineering at Pneuvay, explained, “We saw that the most popular Vortex components for our industrial applications were Wye Line Diverters, Titan Slide Gates, Gravity Vee Diverters, Maintenance Gates, and Loading Spouts. However, there was also significant demand for all Vortex components. Consolidating our sourcing of these components through Vortex allowed us to develop deep expertise and enhance our service delivery.”
In 2016, Michael Francis, then Managing Director of Pneuvay, visited the European division of Vortex Global in Darlington, UK. His meeting with Travis Young of Vortex further strengthened the decade-long technical partnership.
As the trading relationship with Vortex Global continued, discussions began about Pneuvay becoming their sole agent for Australia. In 2023, both companies proudly announced the official appointment. Michael Choo, Pneuvay’s General Manager of Operations, said, “Becoming Vortex Global’s sole agent in Australia further strengthened an important partnership, benefiting Australian industry and both companies. It enables local industries to more effectively source and secure Vortex slide gates, diverters, and valves.”
Expanding to become the New Zealand agent
In 2025, Vortex Global announced its appointment of Pneuvay as the sole agent for New Zealand. Expanding the service area was an important strategic decision for both companies. The close and effective business relationship had flourished over the years and Pneuvay had successfully served as Vortex’s sole agent in Australia for several years.
Laurence Millington, Global Managing Director at Vortex Global, said “Partnering with Pneuvay Engineering to expand into New Zealand is an exciting opportunity for Vortex. Our long and successful history with Pneuvay in Australia gives us full confidence in their ability to bring the same level of expertise and innovation to customers in New Zealand. Pneuvay’s commitment to excellence and deep understanding of the bulk solids handling industry make them an ideal partner for this expansion.”

New standard for bulk powder handling solutions
Recently, Paul Malcolm, General Manager of Engineering at Pneuvay, completed intensive product training at Vortex Global in the USA. This training has further strengthened Pneuvay’s capability to deliver expert advice and support when supplying Vortex products. As a result, businesses in Australia and New Zealand now benefit from faster support, improved access to resources, and customisable equipment tailored to their specific operational needs.
This strengthened partnership combines Vortex’s innovative solutions with Pneuvay’s local expertise and personalised service across Australia and New Zealand. The collaboration delivers cutting-edge technology designed to streamline processes and boost productivity. Together, Vortex and Pneuvay are setting a new benchmark for bulk material handling systems in the region. The partnership also reflects Vortex’s commitment to meeting evolving customer needs and supporting industrial growth. Australian and New Zealand businesses now benefit from superior solutions and support.
