The successful VRAYKOS–ION partnership continues at ION’s new plant in Arta, where another turnkey project confirms the “one partner-full coverage” model through a holistic approach, custom-engineered solutions, and technical support, meeting the high requirements of chocolate production.
VRAYKOS’ new infrastructure upgrade covers critical stages in handling viscous materials, from reception and storage to the controlled transfer of chocolate and creams to production and chocolate coating lines. It is a turnkey solution combining mechanical engineering design, hygiene, and automation, aiming to ensure process stability and consistent quality.
A core element of the project was the installation of stainless-steel, heated storage tanks with a 20-ton capacity, equipped with agitation for homogenization and for maintaining the desired rheological properties. Additionally, heated transfer and distribution piping networks were developed to support multiple chocolate types, ensuring controlled temperature and continuous flow to the points of use. Operation was integrated via a centralized automation system and electrical control panels, providing full parameter control and process monitoring.
The project also included the relocation of existing equipment into the new building, as well as the integration of supporting systems: heating systems, extensions of pneumatic conveying for key raw materials, and a pigging system for efficient cleaning of long piping runs. In this way, upgraded hygienic design reduces changeover time and safeguards production continuity.
This plant implementation is part of the long-term VRAYKOS–ION collaboration, which began in 2006 at ION’s Faliro facility.
