Founded in 2010, Luperini Production S.p.A. – Pharma Division- is an Italian company based in Lucca, Tuscany, dedicated to the design, development, manufacturing, and worldwide installation of high-quality GMP-compliant machinery and equipment for the pharmaceutical, food, and chemical industries.

The company provides both, standard and fully customized solutions for solid product processing applications, including granulation, handling, and washing systems. In addition to customizing its existing technologies, Luperini is able to develop and manufacture entirely new solutions to meet specific customer requirements and process challenges.

All Luperini’s products and solutions are proudly 100% Made in Italy.

Building on this expertise in pharmaceutical process equipment and washing technologies, Luperini has developed WINSTON, a semi-automatic washing and drying system designed to meet the demanding requirements of modern pharmaceutical manufacturing.

As is well established in pharmaceutical manufacturing, ensuring effective and repeatable cleaning processes is essential not only for operational efficiency, but also for compliance with GMP standards and product quality requirements. To address these needs, WINSTON provides a flexible, reliable, and highly standardized solution for BIN containers and pharmaceutical components.

Developed for pharmaceutical environments where different container sizes and component configurations are used daily, WINSTON combines operational simplicity with advanced process control, offering a practical and customizable solution for modern production facilities.

Designed for Flexibility and Repeatability

WINSTON has been specifically engineered to wash and dry BIN containers of different dimensions, with the capability to automatically adapt to capacities of up to 2,200 liters. The system operates through customizable recipes that allow users to manage and standardize each process phase according to specific production requirements.

The washing cycle can include pre-washing, washing, rinsing, draining, and drying stages, all parameterized and managed directly through the HMI interface. Each recipe can be configured according to the type of BIN, the product residues involved, and the customer’s cleaning protocol.

This recipe-based approach ensures process repeatability, controlled operation, and simplified validation according to GAMP standards, while also supporting compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.

Semi-Automatic Operation with High Process Control

The semi-automatic nature of WINSTON allows operators to intervene only when necessary, such as during external cleaning operations, while the complete internal process remains fully controlled and automated.

System Configuration and Main Components

The WINSTON system is composed of several integrated elements designed to optimize washing performance and operational efficiency:

  • A lifting column equipped with a lid containing one or more washing heads and an infrared drying lamp.
  • A skid unit configurable according to customer process requirements.
  • A control panel with HMI interface for recipe management and process monitoring.
  • A dedicated base for positioning BIN containers or component washing accessories.

Thanks to its modular design, the system can be customized according to customer specifications, including detergent dosing, washing parameters, utilities configuration, and process recipes.

WINSTON RACK: Extending the System’s Versatility

To further increase operational flexibility, Luperini has developed the WINSTON RACK, a dedicated movable accessory designed for the washing and drying of pharmaceutical components, valve parts, and technical accessories.

The WINSTON RACK is a BIN-shaped mobile washing container equipped with internal racks and customized spray heads specifically designed to ensure effective and uniform cleaning performance. Components can be easily loaded through side access doors and positioned securely inside the rack system.

One of the key advantages of the WINSTON RACK is its mobility. Equipped with wheels, the unit allows operators to collect components directly from different laboratory or production areas and transport them to the washing room. Once the cleaning and drying cycle is completed, the components can be returned efficiently to their original location.

This solution significantly extends the application range of the WINSTON system beyond traditional BIN processing, making it suitable for a broader variety of pharmaceutical cleaning applications.

Washing Lance for External Cleaning

WINSTON can also be equipped with a dedicated washing lance for external cleaning operations. This accessory allows operators to manually clean the outer surfaces of BIN containers while the internal automatic washing cycle is running simultaneously, optimizing operational efficiency and reducing process times.

Operational Advantages

WINSTON has been designed to provide a combination of practicality, reliability, and compliance for pharmaceutical production environments. Its main advantages include:

  • Ability to process BINs of different sizes and pharmaceutical components within the same system.
  • Recipe-based process management for maximum repeatability and standardization.
  • Validation according to GMP standards.
  • Compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
  • User-friendly operation through intuitive HMI management.
  • Reduced footprint compared to traditional industrial washing stations.
  • Semi-automatic operation with minimal operator intervention.
  • Fully customizable system configuration based on customer requirements.
  • Easy integration into existing production environments.
  • Cost-effective solution offering high value in terms of performance, flexibility, and reliability.

A Practical and Reliable Solution for Pharmaceutical Cleaning Processes

With WINSTON, Luperini offers a versatile and efficient solution capable of adapting to the evolving needs of pharmaceutical manufacturing. By combining process control, operational flexibility, and ease of use, the system supports companies in achieving consistent cleaning performance while simplifying daily operations and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Designed and manufactured entirely in Italy, WINSTON represents Luperini’s commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative solutions for pharmaceutical process equipment worldwide.
