Seamless Powder Handling from Process to Drum

Integrated System Solution for high-containment powder handling
14 Aug 2026  |
In modern pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing, safely handling fine, toxic, or poorly flowing powders presents significant operational challenges. Dec addresses these demands with its innovative integrated system solution designed to transfer, dose, and fill powders directly from process equipment into drums with exceptional precision and containment.

Four Process Steps, One Integrated System

Discharge, Conveying, Dosing, and Filling Combined into a Single Contained Solution

The system combines several critical operations into a single streamlined process. Powders can be discharged from containers or process vessels, pneumatically conveyed, accurately dosed, and filled into drums without the need for intermediate handling. This not only improves efficiency but also minimizes operator exposure and product loss.

At the heart of the solution is Dec’s renowned PTS Powder Transfer System®, which gently conveys powder to the DosiValve® dosing unit. Equipped with a specially engineered pneumatically actuated piston, the DosiValve® enables highly precise control of product transfer, ensuring accurate and repeatable dosing, even for fine, cohesive, or otherwise difficult-to-handle powders.

Safety remains a defining feature of the system. Delivering a containment performance of less than 1 µg/m³, it provides a highly controlled environment for potent and hazardous powders, helping manufacturers meet stringent occupational safety and regulatory requirements.

The platform’s modular design offers high flexibility. Depending on production needs, the system can be configured with the DCS® Drum Containment System, which enables drums and liners to be opened and closed within a contained mini-cleanroom equipped with glove access from the outside. Alternatively, it can be integrated with a continuous liner filling system, providing an equally effective containment solution for different operational requirements.

Another key advantage is its optimized Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) and Sterilization-In-Place (SIP) capability, allowing thorough cleaning and reduced downtime between production campaigns. This contributes to higher productivity while maintaining the highest hygiene standards.

Designed for demanding production environments, this system is widely used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical ingredients and specialty chemicals. It is also suitable for operation in explosion-hazard areas, making it a versatile solution for industries where safety, containment, and process reliability are paramount.

By combining powder transfer, dosing, containment, and filling into one integrated platform, Dec delivers a smarter and safer approach to powder handling, helping manufacturers achieve greater efficiency while protecting both operators and products.
