API production involves a series of complex stages, ranging from chemical transformations and isolation processes to essential physical operations such as milling, sieving, and packaging.
Traditionally, Saneca relied on standard sieving equipment for particle separation, using conventional mills or jet mills to process fine particles. However, the facility lacked suitable equipment for effectively removing mechanical impurities from the final product.
After consulting with a Russell Finex sales engineer, Saneca Pharmaceuticals selected the Russell Compact Sieve® along with the Russell Vibrasonic® Deblinding System to enhance their production capabilities. The Russell Compact Sieve® is a space-saving vibratory sieve specifically designed for pharmaceutical applications, ensuring high product quality while occupying only half the footprint of a traditional sieve—making it ideal for integration into existing production lines.
The Russell Vibrasonic® Deblinding System further improves efficiency by preventing mesh blinding and blockages, extending mesh life, and boosting overall productivity.
Saneca now utilizes the Russell Compact Sieve® for sieving active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and fine-tuning particle size distribution (PSD) to align with customer specifications. The equipment handles between 100 and 400 kilograms per shift, delivering significantly higher throughput than standard vibratory sieves of a similar size.
Together, the Russell Compact Sieve® and Vibrasonic system have strengthened Saneca’s final API production processes, providing more advanced and efficient particle separation and reinforcing the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
