Inauguration of new TOREX factory in San Prospero, Modena, Italy
8 Jun 2022  |
The new plant of the WAMGROUP company has a total surface area of 41,000 square metres for an investment of 15 million euro. The governor of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, also attended the event.

The inauguration of the new TOREX plant was held this morning in San Prospero, Modena, a few steps away from the previous one. The new plant has a total surface area of 41,000 square metres, a roofed area of 10,800 square metres, and 2,000 square metres of green spaces for an investment of 15 million euro. Today, the company in San Prospero employs 55 people, plus 15 at TOREX Malta.

TOREX was established in 1987 as an engineering and manufacturing company for powder handling components within WAMGROUP. Through WAMGROUP’s global network, today TOREX is present on five continents to offer on-site technical and commercial support. The strong link with the territory in which it operates has allowed the company to expand and grow over time while keeping its roots firmly established without wavering even in the darkest days after the 2012 earthquake. Among the main strengths that have decreed TOREX’s success are significant investments in research and development, the adoption of the best production technologies and strict quality standards. The empowerment of human resources as well as the synergy with the other WAMGROUP companies have enabled TOREX to guarantee its customers worldwide the best integrated solution to meet their every need.

These are the words of Nino Ratti, General Manager at TOREX S.p.A.: “Today marks the start of a new adventure for TOREX; the achievement of this milestone was possible thanks to all TOREX employees and thanks to Vainer Marchesini, a man who taught us all the fundamental values to guide our everyday choices. This is TOREX’s third relocation, and it comes on a symbolic date: the 10th anniversary of the devastating 2012 earthquake. This testifies that the people of TOREX and WAMGROUP can make almost anything possible thanks to the right mix of attachment to the territory and our roots, values, authenticity. All this is our competitive advantage. The new site we are opening today is gas-free and energy autonomous thanks to photovoltaic panels. But as new production sites grow, so must the people. The future that awaits us, together with the Marchesini family who founds companies instead of selling them, is to reach new markets as protagonists on the local, national, and international scene. My thanks go to all my team who passionately give the best of themselves every day”.

“Among the main strengths that have decreed TOREX’s success are significant investments in research and development,” explains Vainer Marchesini, President of WAMGROUP, “the adoption of the best production technologies and strict quality standards. Management development and training, international culture together with a clear strategy with long-term investments are all key elements that have enabled TOREX to grow steadily. To talk about the future, we must start with the recent past: the company and our entire Group overcame the financial crisis of 2008 and the devastating earthquake of 2012 that took five years to rebuild. It was a titanic undertaking to rebuild and generate a fresh start. Everyone contributed: customers, suppliers, the State, the Region, the municipality, but above all our people with sacrifices, willpower, and a strong sense of belonging. Today, I am certain that we have put tools in place and set the conditions for another 35 years of success”.

These are the words of Stefano Bonaccini, President of the Emilia-Romagna Region: ‘When a new plant is inaugurated, it is always excellent news, because it tells of the growth of a company and its employment. All the more so if, as in this case, it is accompanied by a particular sensitivity towards the ecological transition and attention to the environment, crucial points of our mission statement. Despite the tragedy of the pandemic and the difficulties of recent months due to the consequences of the war, the entrepreneurial fabric of Emilia-Romagna is proving to be extremely vital, as demonstrated by the latest record-breaking export figures that see us in first place among the Italian Regions. We will continue to support companies with policies devoted to digitalisation and innovation, fundamental elements to continue competing on international markets by focusing on the quality and excellence of our supply chains”.
