Luperini not only can customize all its solutions, but also can design and manufacture new solutions for customer’s specific issues. All its products and solutions are 100% Made in Italy.
Luperini’s I-CONE MILL grinds and calibrates medium and large, wet or dry granules, using dedicated conical screens. These screens can be easily replaced and are supplied in different sizes to calibrate different products.
The I-Cone Mill -stand-alone version- can be used in different applications, such as connected to a High Shear mixer & dryer granulator’ s discharge valve; used in Bin-to-Bin calibration process, used in calibration from a pneumatic transport to a Bin, and much more.
It is height-adjustable, compact, and easy to be transported.
Luperini offers three models of I-CONE MILL calibrators:
- 500 kg/hr
- 2000 kg/hr
- 4000 kg/hr
The I-CONE MILL was originally designed to only calibrate wet or dry powders. Luperini has customized the equipment modifying the calibrator’s blade, allowing it in this way to perform tablet- grinding and subsequent calibration, using standard Conidur screens dedicated to dry product calibration.
CASE STUDY
Industry: pharmaceutical
Customer’s issue: The customer needed to grind his pharmaceutical tablets, and immediately calibrate their powder (see photo below), in order to follow a particular process. He was searching for a single solution that in some cases could be used only to calibrate, while in others, could grind and calibrate.
LUPERINI SOLUTION: I-CONE MILL
The calibrator used for the test was an I-CONE MILL 500kg/hr, with a standard Conidur screen for dry product (1mm hole) and a special blade to handle the powder.
Functional description:
- “V” shape calibration rotor
- Calibration capacity: 150/200 kg/h
- Rotation speed (adjustable by inverter): from 600 to 1500 rpm
- Conical blade for tablet grinding
- Material in contact with the product: AISI 316 L
- Contact material finish: mirror polished RA 0.2
- External finish: satin RA 0.8
- IQ and OQ validation protocols
Test results:
The characteristics of the powder obtained after grinding and calibrating the pharmaceutical tablets were in line with customer expectations in reference to size and processing speed (see photo below).
