The port operator was searching an engineering company with the flexibility to develop a hopper that could both unload raw materials quickly and offer almost dust-free handling. This should be a continued development of existing resources. So, both companies started a cooperation to find out the requirements of the port operator and the necessary steps to fulfill them.
Several meetings and discussions followed to identify the exact needs of the port operator. When the contract was signed, Intercem started the engineering of the raw material receiving hopper and all related action. Construction of the hopper was effected in the UAE under the supervision of Intercem responsibles. When finished, it was loaded on a heavy-duty transport truck and driven from the construction yard to the jetty in the port. After commissioning of the InterHop, the expected results were immediately achieved and the port operator has already ordered a second InterHop raw material receiving hopper.
Loaded on a special heavy load transport vessel, the hopper was transported from the UAE to the port of Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
After arrival in Abidjan and transport to the jetty, the hopper was commissioned, and operation started with very good results.
Highest flexibility, fast truck loading and dust free operation: all these requirements are fulfilled by the InterHop raw material receiving hopper.
40 tons of material can be unloaded in 10 seconds. Truck loading is possible as well as direct feed via belt conveyor to raw material silo. The InterHop impresses with a flexible design. It is a tailor-made solution developed according to the client’s requirements.

The grab feeding opening has a diameter of 9,00 metres and a height feeding opening.
The inlet (grate size) is 6,50 m x 6,50 m and the height of the inlet (grate size) 15 m.
The overall dimensions (with walkways) are 10,00 x 17,80 m. The hopper disposes of a capacity of 65 m3/ density 1,2 – 1,4 kg/dm3 and its weight is approx. 215.000 kg.
Commissioning took place in July 2021 and the InterHop is operating successfully since then.
