Delft Solids Solutions is proud to announce the Powder hands-on day 2019
On October the 22nd we will organize our first hands-on day. This exclusive event, in contrast to our courses and seminars, will be spent in the laboratory. Because of this we will only have a maximum of 16 attendee spots.
The powder hands-on day will be (mostly) experimentally oriented. Each practical part will be preceded by a short presentation on the equipment that will be used as well as what the technique will entail. We will work in small groups of 3-4 persons under the guidance of an experienced researcher.
We will actively be working with instruments and set-ups used for measuring particle size, for investigating particle shape, analyzing the surface area of materials, determining the pore size distribution and the porosity as well as working on quantification of the dustiness of materials, also in relation to the other intrinsic parameters. This way you learn how to practically use various techniques and understand the challenges associated with using these instruments to determine different powder and particle properties.
We will also address the challenges that one can face during particle size analysis such as the disintegration of agglomerates during wet and dry dispersion and the wetting of powders with liquids.
In case of porosity and surface area assessment low surface area materials, we will also tackle working with tiny amounts of sample material as well as dealing with large sample sizes.
This event is particularly suitable for people actively working in the laboratories, working on these as well as related techniques. The powder hands-on day is also suitable for researchers and managers that have to assess the validity and meaning of the results produced in the laboratories. It will also provide insight for technicians that are interested in the practical aspects of powder and particle measurement techniques.
